Indian U-turn on dialogue: Mushahid
Islamabad, Feb 5: Secretary General Pakistan Muslim League Mushahid Hussain
Sayed Friday asked the government to give its due preference to Kashmir issue
and that India cannot suppress the sentiments of Kashmiri people by use of
force.
Addressing a function in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day held here, the
PML Secretary General said the sole solution of longstanding issue of Kashmir
lies in the implementation of UN resolution giving the people of Occupied
Kashmiris their right to plebiscite.
He said it was the PML government that had raised the issue to every appropriate
forum and had compelled to bow down before the reality and bring Indian
authorities to table of dialogue.
He said Kashmir is a jugular vein and India is triggering water issues to
control this important part of Pakistan, adding that the focus of PML’s politics
is not merely Pakistan rather the whole Islamic Ummah.
Substantiating his words, Mushahid said the PML government had declined US
request to send troops to Iraq as it was contrary to the Muslims sentiments and
the party, being the propagator of Islamic thought would never allow execution
of anti-Islam policies.
Condemning two blasts in Karachi, he criticized the government’s policies on war
against terrorism and said the protection of peoples’ lives must be given top
priority in government policies.
Earlier, Senator Nilofar Bakhtiar said India, making false propaganda against
Pakistan in Mumbai attack episode, must also take cognizance of human rights
violations being committed by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.
She said our Foreign Office must categorically tell Indian authorities that they
are answerable for the bloodshed of Kashmiri people and criticized the role of
so-called human rights organizations which are constantly keeping mum over
Indian suppression in Kashmir.
Central Vice President Ijaz Durrani said Muslims are suffering in Palestine and
Kashmir due to anti-Muslim policies of world powers who have set double
standards visa-vis the issues of Muslim states.
Suraya Naseem, President PML Women’s Wing for federal Capital said the holding
of referendum in occupied Kashmir is inevitable for establishment of peace in
the region.
She said Pakistan and India have already fought four wars but unfortunately the
Kashmir issue could not be resolved due to inhuman policies of Indian
authorities.
She said the Kashmir issue would linger on until Kashmiris are given their
democratic right and a referendum is held in light of the UN resolution seeking
right of plebiscite for the Kashmiri people.
PML leader Shakeel Roshan said the PML expresses its complete solidarity with
the suppressed people of occupied Kashmir and said India, the proclaiming to be
pioneer of democracy in the world must also respect democratic rights of
Kashmiri people.
General Secretary Labor Wing Raja Imtiaz, Central Vice President Ajmal Wazir and
Raja Zaheer Anjum also spoke on the occasion.
